A Working Together programme update from Steve Pascoe

Now, more than ever, our customers need to trust us to deliver. This is a central part of our mission to build Britain’s connected future. We know that when we work together, and by that we mean co-located in the same building, we provide significantly better service for our customers so I’m really encouraged that we’re starting to build momentum on our Working Together journey. We’ve previously announced a number of sites and which functions will be at these. We already have just under 3,000 people working across these sites and with extra capacity becoming available another 1,000 will join them before the end of the year.

Although we are acutely aware we are now in peak holiday season, we are keen to keep things moving over the summer months so we can help more people in phase one of Working Together (ie desk-based customer and engineer support) understand what this means for them.

We know a number of people aren’t able to work from one of the previously announced sites. We’ve been taking account of your feedback, the outcome of 121s and talking to the CWU about how we minimise the number of people who are unable to travel to sites. I wanted to let you know we will share an update on this next week; do look out for further information on this.

For those people in phase two of Working Together, that’s HQ and business unit operations teams, who are waiting to hear about what Working Together means for you, I’d like to apologise. We said we’d communicate what this meant for you by the end of July and I’m sorry that we were not able to do that. We've had to make the decision to delay the launch of phase two until September. With so much work yet to do to ensure that people in phase one are set up for success, it's right to focus our energy and efforts here over the summer. We really do appreciate your patience.

We are continuing our discussions with the CWU and Prospect about all aspects of the programme, including sites and management structures. We’ll keep you posted on progress with this.

Remember you can always find comprehensive information about Working Together on our website, and contact us here with any questions or feedback.

Thank you for your continued support.
